Custom Reporting: Build the Report You Actually Need
- 4 mins
On-demand, configurable reports across your entire Flo account.
Getting data out of a recruiting platform has historically meant either accepting whatever canned report someone else decided was useful, or exporting raw data and reassembling it in a spreadsheet. We kept hearing from our clients that neither option was working for them. Flo is the fastest shipping company in the legal talent industry, and custom reporting is one of the biggest things we have shipped to date.
The problem
Recruiting and talent teams need answers to different questions at different times. How many candidates attended an outreach event and then applied to a job? What is the interview-to-offer ratio for a specific position type? Which agencies are placing candidates that make it past a certain stage?
Before this release, pulling that kind of cross-functional picture required manual work: exporting separate data sets, joining them by hand, and rebuilding the same report every time someone needed a current snapshot. Our clients told us this was eating time they did not have, and that the data they most needed was spread across parts of the platform that had never been connected in a report before.
What we shipped
Admins can now build fully customizable reports on the fly from a new "Create Custom Report" option on the reporting landing page. The feature is available to all accounts.
When creating a report, you start by choosing a view that defines the data set. There are six views available:
- Candidates: candidate info, education history, work history, self-identification, admin notes, and internal fields.
- Job Applications: application details, offer information, agency data, job info, education and work history, application questions, interview schedules, event registrations, historical status tracking, and internal fields.
- Interview Schedules: candidate info, interview details, and qualifying questions.
- Interview Evaluations: candidate info, evaluation details, and evaluation question responses.
- Event Registrations: candidate info, event details, jobs applied to, and qualifying questions.
- Event Evaluations: candidate info, event details, evaluation information, and evaluation question responses.

Once a view loads, you can sort by any column, drag and drop columns to reorder them, apply stacked filters to narrow results, manage which columns are visible, and export the configured table to CSV. Every view includes a Candidate ID column so you can export from multiple views and join them together. Candidate IDs are hyperlinked so you can jump directly to a candidate profile without losing your place in the report.
Column selections, filters, and sort order are saved to your local session so the configuration is there when you come back.

You can also save a report by name. Reopening a saved report loads it with fresh data and your saved configuration intact. If you adjust a saved report, you can overwrite it or save it as a new version.

Why it matters
The Job Applications view in particular connects dots that recruiting teams have always had to connect manually: candidate background, application status, interview attendance, event history, offer details, and agency information, all in one data set. That is the kind of holistic picture that used to require a data analyst or a lot of spreadsheet time.
Because the data refreshes approximately every 10 minutes and saved reports reload with current data each time they are opened, the reports stay useful after you build them. You are not looking at a frozen snapshot; you are looking at where things stand right now.
Custom reporting is the kind of feature that gets more useful the more you push on it. Build a few reports, see where the data falls short or where you wish you had another column, and tell us. That feedback is exactly how this feature gets better.
