Interview Management, Pre-select and Lottery, Now Lives in One Experience

A long-overdue consolidation that makes interview programs simpler to run.

For a long time, career services teams had to juggle two different platforms for their pre-select interview programs: a restricted legacy tool and the more versatile Interview Management module, which supports pre-select, lottery, and hybrid scheduling for both virtual and in-person formats. Flo is the fastest shipping company in the legal talent industry, and part of shipping fast is being willing to make the hard calls that simplify the product for the people who use it every day. This release marks the first concrete step in retiring the old pre-select workflow in favor of Interview Management as the single place to run these programs.

The problem

Career services teams have been managing pre-select interview programs across two separate systems: a legacy tool that only allowed for pre-select scheduling and the newer Interview Management module that allows for pre-select, lottery, and hybrid interview scheduling, plus support for virtual and in-person interviews. Split functionality created operational overhead. Teams had to decide which system to use each cycle, maintain institutional knowledge about two different workflows, and navigate a product that was, in effect, carrying dead weight.

We've been working directly with career services teams to identify what was holding them back from moving fully into Interview Management. What came back was a clear list of functionality gaps, things that were treated as blockers to adoption. We've been chipping away at those blockers, and this release removes the option to create new programs in the legacy system entirely.

What we shipped

The entry point to create new Legacy Pre-Select Interview programs is now hidden. Career services teams will no longer see it as an option when setting up a new event. Going forward, all pre-select interview programs should be created inside Interview Management.

A few important details:

  • Existing programs are untouched. Every legacy program you've already created remains fully accessible. You can still edit events, run schedulers, email employers and students, and adjust schedules for anything already in the system.
  • New programs go through Interview Management. That's now the only path forward for pre-select scheduling, and the experience there has been shaped significantly by feedback from career services teams over the past several months.
  • Clients have been notified. A communication went out to all affected teams letting them know the legacy entry point is no longer available and explaining what this means in practice.

Why it matters

Consolidation like this pays off over time. When pre-select scheduling lives in one place, career services teams build expertise in one workflow instead of two. Documentation is simpler. Onboarding new staff is simpler. And when something needs to change or improve, there's one place to change it.

More practically, Interview Management has been built with direct input from the career services teams who pushed back on it hardest. The functionality gaps that were cited as reasons to stay on the legacy system have been addressed, and more improvements are planned before the next major recruiting wave. This release is the beginning of that transition becoming official, not just recommended.

If you're running pre-select programs and there's something about the Interview Management experience that still doesn't feel right for your workflow, tell us. The best way to get it fixed before your next busy season is to surface it now.
