# Manager and Mentor Fields Are Now on Every User Profile

Flo's product gets better in direct proportion to how closely we work through real firm structures with our clients. Manager and Mentor fields on user profiles are a concrete example: they reflect the way law firms and professional services organizations actually assign responsibility for people's development, and they are now available for every firm in Flo Performance Management.
## **The challenge**
Sharing performance evaluations with the right leaders requires knowing who is responsible for whom. Firms already track manager and mentor relationships, but Flo Performance Management had no native way to record them, which meant that access decisions for evaluation sharing had to be managed outside the system. Professional development and business professional teams now get modern, flexible solutions that give them more visibility into the people they support.
## **What we launched**
User profiles in Flo Performance Management now include two new fields in the About section:
- **Manager:** designed for business professionals, with a one-to-one relationship (each person can have one manager).
**Mentor:** designed for attorneys, with a one-to-many relationship (a mentor can have multiple mentees).
Admins can set these fields by editing the About section on an individual profile, or by using the bulk import to populate them across the organization at once.
## **Why it matters**
These fields do more than store information. They are the foundation for the access controls that drive Leadership Dashboards (covered in the next post in this series). Once a manager or mentor is recorded on a profile, admins can use that relationship to grant that person view access to evaluations for their direct reports or mentees, without giving them broader admin access to Flo Performance Management.
The result is that evaluation access reflects the firm's actual structure. A managing partner who oversees a group of associates, or a senior attorney serving as a formal mentor, can be connected to the right people directly in the system, rather than relying on manually assembled packets or workarounds.
These fields are straightforward to set up, and getting them populated before configuring dashboards will make the rest of the Leadership Dashboard setup much smoother.
