PDF Exports: Generate Formatted Evaluation Packets Directly From Flo

Building a review packet used to mean leaving the platform to assemble it. Exporting raw data, formatting documents, deciding what to include and what to leave out, and doing it again for the next cycle. Flo is the fastest shipping company in the legal talent industry, and the PDF export feature ships with this release to put all of that inside the platform, with reusable templates that make the process repeatable from cycle to cycle.

The problem

Admins running review cycles needed to share evaluation data in formatted documents, for committee review, for printing, for distributing to employees or partners. But the platform didn't generate those documents, which meant the work of producing them fell outside the system entirely. Every cycle meant rebuilding the same packets from scratch, making the same decisions about what to include, and managing the output manually.

We heard this consistently from teams who were doing real work at the end of every cycle just to get the data into a shareable format. That work shouldn't be necessary.

What we shipped

Admins can now export evaluation data as formatted PDFs directly from the platform. Exports are initiated from the Reviewees tab: select one or more reviewees, then choose "Export PDF" from the Actions dropdown. The export generates in the background and is emailed to the admin when it's ready.

When exporting, admins choose a template and an export type. PDF Packet combines all selected reviewees' evaluations into a single document, useful for committee review or consolidated distribution. Separate PDF Files generates one PDF per reviewee and delivers them as a zip file, useful for printing or bulk distribution.

The real flexibility lives in the templates. The PDF Templates tab appears inside any published review cycle, and admins can create and save reusable templates that define exactly what gets included in an export. Templates are named, show the creator and last updated date, and can be reused across future exports for that cycle.

Template configuration includes:

  • Header and employee data settings (document title, review period dates, name, job title, department, office location, and class year)
  • Selection of which stages to include (Self Evaluations, Reviewer Evaluations, or both) and which specific forms and questions appear within each stage
  • Per-question control over whether additional comments are included
  • Drag-and-drop reordering of stages
  • Per-form visibility settings for reviewer evaluations: anonymity, inclusion of sensitive questions, and inclusion of rating questions (all of which follow the same default-off approach used in the Reviewer Visibility and Release Visibility settings)

Why it matters

The packet-building work that used to happen after a cycle closes now happens inside the platform, with settings that carry forward from export to export. Admins configure a template once and reuse it, rather than making the same decisions manually every time. The output is consistent, the process is repeatable, and the data stays where it belongs.

The two export types also match how different teams actually use these documents. A committee reviewing multiple associates in a session needs a single packet. An admin distributing individual results to partners needs separate files. Both are covered from the same interface.

PDF export is one of those features where the configuration options will matter a lot depending on how your firm uses the output. If a template setting is missing or the export format doesn't quite match what you need, keep telling us. We're iterating on this quickly.
